Many Colombians love taking photographs both in groups and selfies. Whether it’s in cafes, shops or boarding the plane there always seemed to be a pause while photos were taken.
Almost, every place we visited from villages to cities had a place sign and it’s taken quite seriously with notices up behind them that these were photo zones and people shouldn’t stand in the background.
In other places, the tourist attractions have had installations added to facilitate selfie; a Selfie-World theme park in the Tatacoa Desert along with oversized furniture and other backdrops in amongst regular cafes.
All good fun or does this support place marketing and widen the reach of these locations?
Many of the place signs are quite generic so we are leaning towards fun and pride of place rather than place marketing.
