Refining messaging and approaches to new markets

Mediorite is a social enterprise with award-winning social impact. Their purpose is to train and develop young people to enter the creative sector; a difficult industry to enter without personal connections, and for their work to support the sector developing into one that is more diverse and reflective of the UK today.

BACKGROUND

Mediorite offer their charity and corporate clients a full end-to-end video production service from London and Leeds and every film created provides paid work for a young person they have trained.

They have a strong track record in the professional services and construction sectors and their SHIFT training programme. In 12 months more than 600 young people took part in their training.

They wanted to expand and target a new sector with their services and to take a leading role within it. They felt that their service offer could be clearer and that they would benefit from external advice on approaching a new sector.

They engaged The Assembly Line to support them with developing a clear narrative around their service offer, advice on responses to tenders and with developing an approach to the new sector.

WHAT WE DID

We reviewed Mediorite’s service offer and rate card to create a reduced and clearer service offer mapped to income, sector and client/customer in conjunction with:

  • reviewing training team resourcing and skills to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and to reduce admin tasks
  • Identifing what Mediorite’s role would be in the new sector – parameters for being an advisor, convener, partner
  • setting income targets, sectors and client/customers identified for a targeted approach to new sector
  • developing a list of target clients – long list to short list of 10
  • agreeing he best way to approach them (roadmap) with targets and deadlines
  • developing key messages to approach the sector

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAID

Diane had a clear understanding of the challenges we faced in combining our social enterprise ethos with widening our client base. She helped me recognise that how I was speaking about Mediorite wasn’t reflecting who I wanted us to be! As a result I am now clear on who Mediorite is and feel confident that for the first time I can communicate our value and expand our reach. Lucy Ferguson MBE, founder, Mediorite
