The Fabric District CIC is working to develop the area a few minutes walk away from Lime Street station in Liverpool. It is home to historic buildings, indie businesses with a growing hospitality and creative sector and an international food offer.
Its neighbours include University of Liverpool, The Empire Theatre and Royal Liverpool Hospital and its part of the wider area known as Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool).
It also has several empty buildings and large, student accommodation blocks making them both an important customer base and a challenge in creating year-round footfall. However, there’s lots going on as we discovered on a walkabout this week with a fellow CIC Board Member to raise the profile of the area and the website with local businesses.
Empty units are being worked on, residential developments have started, new openings are planned and existing tenants are expanding their space and adapting their offer. Businesses were receptive to the approach and it feels like momentum is building.
Our director, Diane Cunningham has been a board member at The Fabric District CIC since January 2022.
